| Pottery
made in Czechoslovakia is prized by collectors for it's lovely colors
and artistic flair. There were (and continue to be) many different
factories in the region, so there are different patterns, color
combinations, and shapes to be found. Czech pottery and porcelain is
frequently assumed to be bright, bold, and colorful like the
examples shown here, but can be found in a variety of elegant and
graceful shapes and patterns that compliment many collecting
styles.
The country of Czecho-Slovakia was created in November 1918 at the end of World War I. With various changes, it remained one country until January 1, 1993, when it divided into the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic. The country of Czechoslovakia was not unchanged during it's 1918-1993 lifetime, however, we won't list all the political details here. Because the country's history is complicated, we recommend consulting one of the many books on the subject for more detailed information. |
