Originally intended for use as inexpensive flower containers, figural head vases now have a dedicated collector following.
Head vases have been made in the shape of girls, boys, babies, animals, and more. Head vases range in size from 3-4" tall upwards to 8" tall. They were made by many different manufacturers. Some
were made by American companies and many more were imported. A few of the manufacturers include Enesco, Inarco,
Lefton, Relpo, Napco, Rubens, Ucagco, Josef, and Shawnee. There were many other manufacturers as well. As collector
interest in head vases has increased, some companies have begun making new models. Among the most popular head vases are the elegant and chic ladies. The ladies have pretty hairdoes, long eyelashes, and just the right amount of color on their cheeks. Some lady head vases have added jewelry, usually earrings and a necklace. Some ladies hold a hand near their face, perhaps wearing a glove or showing off manicured nails. It it sometimes said that the more details a lady head vase has, the higher her value (assuming all details are intact and undamaged). However, as in all collectibles, the rarity of a particular model and collector demand have the most pricing impact. Please visit us at Antique World Mall to see our selection of vintage head vases and many other fabulous finds. (The exact items pictured may not be available, as they may have already found a new collection to call home.) |
