| Fiesta
dinnerware and kitchenware was produced by the Homer Laughlin Company
beginning in 1936. Production of the original line ended in 1973. In
1986 production of Fiesta resumed, and this popular line continues to
be made in a variety of colors. The original 1930s colors are red
(which is actually more
of an orange color), cobalt blue, yellow, light green, old ivory, and
turquoise. Introduced in the 1950s were gray, rose, chartreuse, forest
green, and later, medium green. New Fiesta, made in 1986 into the present, can be found in a large variety of colors including (but not limited to) black, white, rose, apricot, persimmon, cobalt, turquoise, lilac, several shades of yellow, and several shades of green. Some of these new colors had limited production and are quite collectible. A tremendous variety of Fiesta items have been produced, which gives collectors an unusual amount of flexibility. Those who like a challenge may prefer to collect only the original vintage colors. There are many rare and hard-to-find vintage items to add excitement to the hunt. It is possible to collect only kitchenware, only dinnerware, or only the hardest to find of the "new Fiesta" items. Or one can simply buy an assortment of Fiesta to use and enjoy. This approach, gathering any Fiesta item that appeals and not worrying about rarity, can be a fun way to create a collection. |
